The Network Operations group has begun bringing wireless connectivity to bulk fuel and propane plant offices.
“Bringing WiFi to our plants is long overdue and will improve the mobility of our work force,” Jeremi Rowland, director of information technology services says. “WiFi will enhance the connectivity of plants to our servers and make it easier to push important software updates to our employees’ mobile devices.”
The initial pilot rollout is being installed prior to the integration of the new tablets that the company is testing with drivers and is expected to include 13 plants. The addition of WiFi will enhance network access for personnel who will be on-site training for the next phase of the new truck system implementation. After the pilot sites are completed, WiFi installs will continue to all remaining plants.
Rowland says with assistance from the plants during the installs, wireless connectivity should be installed at all plants by the summer of 2017.
