Upgrades Coming to Petro-Card 24 Sites

The company’s network of Petro-Card 24 sites is scheduled to be upgraded throughout the summer to enhance security and customer interactions. Third-party vendors will be installing new battery back-up systems and cameras, according to James Greer, vice president of supply and government affairs.

“The upgrades will improve the overall functionality of the units,” Greer says. “The new battery back-ups will keep the payment kiosks online long enough to complete transactions in case of a power outage. The cameras will help prevent fraudulent behavior.”

The new cameras will capture higher quality photos of customers using the payment kiosks. The photos are helpful in catching individuals who use stolen credit cards or engage in other criminal activity.

The upgrades will also create the potential for additional technology to be implemented down the road.

“With upgraded kiosks, we could have the opportunity to create an app allowing for mobile payment, which could make transactions easier for some customers,” Greer says. “We aren’t ready for that step yet, but the potential definitely exists.”

Greer expects the Petro-Card 24 improvements to be completed by the end of the summer.
