Effective December 27, 2020, Ed Harper will transition to the newly created role of vice president of enterprise risk management. Harper, who has served as the company’s vice president of retail automotive since 2015 and been with the company since 1995, will now be responsible for overseeing:
- Environmental Safety and Compliance
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Fleet Safety
- Crisis Management and Security
- Building and Construction
- Facility Maintenance
As part of the reorganization that will accompany Harper’s change in title, his direct reports will now include Tracy Barth, director of environmental health and safety; Tom Procter, director of safety and maintenance; and Brian Arnold, construction manager.
“Our company faces a diverse collection of hazards and obstacles that we have to account for strategically,” says Jon Ihler, MFA Oil president and CEO. “Plain and simple, I wanted to devote more resources to mitigating our risks and strategically achieving our company-wide goals. I am confident Ed, with the strong support of Tracy, Tom and Brian, will work well together to make our company better.”
“In addition, I’ve opened a senior director of sales and marketing position that will report directly to me,” Ihler says. “This will help us unify our collaborative efforts to meet our customers’ needs and strengthen our co-op’s position in the market.
Charlie Alexander will now assume the role of senior director of Big O Tires operations and will continue to manage and direct the company’s Big O Tires franchise stores. He will report directly to Ihler.
“Charlie gets our people engaged and helps foster their sense of ownership at our Big O Tires stores,” says Harper. “I’m proud of Charlie and his team’s commitment to the ‘One Team. One Goal.’ mantra. I look forward to seeing what Charlie and his team can accomplish in the future.”
