It’s been about a year since the truck services department moved from Columbia into its new home at the Moberly Business Support Campus. Bob Powell, who manages the truck shop, says the extra space and improved facilities have allowed him to hire additional staff. There are currently 10 people working in the truck shop, counting Powell.
“Since the move, we’ve at least doubled our efficiency,” Powell says. “The extra bays, employees and new tools we have at our disposal have made a real difference in the amount of work we are able to accomplish.”
Though the truck services department officially moved to Moberly in April 2016, Powell says his staff has really had about 11 months of work since it took about a month to get everything set up in the new shop. In that span of time, the truck shop has completed work on the following:
- 13 new refined fuel 10-wheel trucks with 4,500 gallon-tanks
- 2 new propane 10-wheel trucks with 5,000 gallon-tanks
- 14 new 6-wheel propane bobtail trucks
- 14 bobtail truck tanks have been converted to permanent customer tanks
- 2 truck tank swaps
- Work on several new crane trucks
The investment in the new trucks and truck shop facility are all part of the company’s efforts to improve operational efficiency and better serve customers.
