Tough Pad Training Underway

As the number of plants switching over to EnterpriseOne (E1) for fuel sales grows, the company is deploying new tough pads in drivers’ trucks.

Before a plant is transitioned to E1 for fuel sales, its trucks must be brought into the Business Support Campus in Moberly for tough pad installation. While the drivers are waiting for their trucks to be equipped with the new devices, they are trained on how to use the technology.

“We want to make sure everyone is well-prepared and ready when we move forward with a new rollout,” Larry Ehrman, vice president of logistics. “We provide training to everyone who may have to use the tough pads, including our mechanics in the truck shop, plant managers, operations managers and drivers.”

The training, which only takes a few hours, is primarily being handled by M.G. Behrend, logistics manager, Jack Goslin, senior application support analyst and Justin Kellett BP/LP Management Trainee.

The tough pads are a big step up in technology and will play a pivotal role in the success of the company’s delivery process. Drivers use the devices to display their routes, pull up customer information and generate delivery tickets. Each pad is linked to its truck’s pumping meter to accurately record fuel sales. Additionally, all of the new tough pads are connected to E1 and provide real-time data for enhanced visibility into the company’s operations.

More than 30 trucks have been outfitted with the new tough pads so far and that number will continue to climb as additional plants move forward with the transition to fuel sales in E1.
