Two longtime managers, Rick Akers and Tim Burnett, have retired from the company’s BPLP operations.
Rick Akers
Rick Akers began his 32-year career with MFA Oil as a refined fuel driver before becoming plant manager for the Lebanon, Mo., office. He spent the majority of his career working with refined fuels before adding propane to his responsibilities
“Rick always put a strong emphasis on taking care of his customers,” says Luke Fitzpatrick, district manager. “He was highly knowledgeable of the refined fuel industry and a great resource. We wish Rick well in his retirement. He will be missed.”
In retirement, Akers said he looks forward to doing more fishing, camping and spending more time with this family. He and his wife, Pam, have been married for 35 years and have two sons, Brandon and Aaron, and one grandson, Kysen.
Tim Burnett
Tim Burnett worked for MFA Oil for nearly 35 years. He got his start with MFA Oil as a commissioned driver in 1982. By 1986, Burnett had become plant manager at Bernie, Mo., a position he held until 2012 when he moved to manage the plant in West Plains, Mo. Burnett finished his career with the company as an operations manager for the Southeast District.
“Tim was well respected by his co-workers and customers,” says Robert Burlbaugh, director of field training and procedures, who was Burnett’s district manager for 15 years. “He was a great team player who always ready to lend a hand, tell a story or share a laugh. In his management area, he was a tremendous ambassador for MFA Oil, and we will miss his many contributions to the company.”
Burnett is now enjoying more time with his family, including his wife Lisa, with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage in June. The couple has a son and daughter and two granddaughters. Burnett looks forward to doing more trout fishing on the Spring River in retirement.
