Congratulations are in order for eight Home Office employees who were recently presented with a Peer Award, a new honor that has been established for employees who are recognized by their peers for continually demonstrating excellent service to MFA Oil. The honorees were selected based on co-worker feedback to MFA Oil President Mark Fenner and Janice Serpico, chief human resources officer, during the recent Face Time with Fenner sessions.
The 2018 Home Office Peer Award winners, include:
- Gayle Bailey, senior director of finance and accounting
- Ashley Bower, senior marketing manager
- Scott Davis, senior systems administrator
- Mary Fisher, office services clerk
- Justi Montague, HR information systems manager
- Paul Samp, dispatch manager
- Melissa Wilson, fixed assets supervisor
- Lona Wood, functional business analyst
“The Peer Award recognizes employees who have demonstrated outstanding service to others and is often the first person people go to for help,” says Serpico. “The new Face Time with Fenner meetings have allowed Mark to interact with employees on a more personal level and we received valuable feedback as to which employees are continually hitting it out of the park.”
The idea of Face Time with Fenner stemmed from Fenner wanting to have a greater understanding of what’s going well and what can be improved within the company. Sessions began in late 2017 with a goal in mind of meeting all employees on a more individualized basis in a forum in which employees can freely give feedback.
“One of the biggest reasons these individuals were chosen for the Peer Award is because they weren’t mentioned just once by fellow co-workers in the meetings,” says Fenner. “These employees were mentioned numerous times across different home office departments.”
Recognized employees received a plaque and a $1,500 cash award as part of the honor. While this marks the first round of Peer Awards, additional employees are expected to be honored as more Face Time with Fenner sessions are conducted throughout the rest of the company.
