Customers count on MFA Oil Company to provide dependable delivery of bulk fuel, propane and lubricants. To ensure customer needs are met in the most efficient way possible, a new position in BP/LP operations was recently introduced. Operations managers are charged with bridging the gap between route optimization and customer satisfaction.
Twelve operations managers spread across MFA Oil’s trade territory will be working directly with company drivers to be certain everything runs smoothly from the time customer orders are received to when deliveries are made.
“Our operations managers will be working with plant managers and logistics to ensure efficient, timely delivery of product to customers,” says Kenny Steeves, vice president of bulk and propane plant operations.
Besides coordinating delivery scheduling and routing with plants and logistics, the operations managers are tasked with driver training, fleet safety, equipment certification and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Tony Johnson and Jenny Daggett, two of the new operations managers, say they are excited to be working with the drivers, plant managers and logistics.
“We’re here to guarantee we’re taking the best possible care of our customers,” Daggett says. “We’ll be reviewing routes for effectiveness, taking care of same day customer calls and making sure the fuel is delivered safely and professionally.”
Johnson sees the operations manager position as a big help to plant managers.
“We’re there to be the ally of the plant manager and help in any way we can,” Johnson says. “I’ve been a plant manager and I know what that job entails. We want to help lessen their loads and let them concentrate on day-to-day operations. We’ll handle the equipment, trucks and drivers so that they can concentrate on plant operations.”
Steeves says improving driver performance will boost customer perception of MFA Oil.
“Our goal is to provide our customers with timely service in a safe and convenient manner,” Steeves says. “Increasing our efficiency enables us to offer our customers better value in the long term. Improving our service to our customers with these changes will also improve our image in the areas in which we operate.”
