Jennifer Bach, Break Time director of marketing and merchandising, was recently selected to receive the MFA Oil Executive MBA scholarship. The scholarship is granted through the MFA Oil Foundation to one MFA Oil employee per year in conjunction with the Trulaske execMBA program at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“I hope this program will give me a more well-rounded knowledge of business, improve my strategic thinking skills and allow me to gain better interpersonal skills, especially related to managing people and putting successful teams together,” Bach says.
Bach has worked for MFA Oil’s Break Time division for the last 19 years fulfilling the roles of price book coordinator, operations coordinator, category manager and merchandising manager before arriving at her current position as department director.
Bach’s community involvement and leadership skills also factored in her selection as the scholarship recipient. For the past six years, Bach has been a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia and was recently named board president this year. In addition, Bach participated in the 2009 Columbia Chamber of Commerce Leadership Columbia program to further her knowledge of the city and develop her leadership skills.
The Trulaske execMBA program is tailored to a busy work schedule, requiring on-campus attendance only four Fridays per year. The majority of the curriculum is completed online.
The scholarship will cover the full expense of tuition, a tablet, activities and meals during residencies and all costs associated with a nine-day international trip to Europe where Bach and other students will meet with foreign business leaders.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to be chosen for this MFA Oil Executive MBA Scholarship. Based on the talent we have in this company, I am sure it could not have been an easy decision for the committee,” Bach says. “I am excited to get started on this incredible opportunity and look forward to what the next two years hold.”
Bach will begin Mizzou’s MBA program Aug. 2 and is expected to graduate the 21-month program in May 2019.
