Farewell to Bev Pfeffer After Nearly 31 Years

Bev Pfeffer

For more than 30 years, there’s been one constant in the company’s handling of insurance claims – Bev Pfeffer. Pfeffer started her career with the company in April 1990. Over the years, Pfeffer has seen many changes in the company and claims processing. On March 3, 2021, Pfeffer handled her last claim and handed off the responsibilities to start a new chapter in her life.

“Bev could be counted on to handle all our claims thoroughly and with professionalism,” says Tracy Barth, director of environmental health, who served as Pfeffer’s supervisor for several years. “She’s also a good-hearted, caring person, and I think that was evident to those with whom she worked.”

Pfeffer says processing worker’s compensation claims was her favorite part of the job. She routinely assisted co-workers with setting up doctor’s appointments, physical therapy sessions and follow-ups, throughout the claim duration.

“I’ve always enjoyed helping people,” Pfeffer says. “When you’re injured, it’s nice to have someone who’s there to help coordinate your care and check in on you.”

Janice Serpico, chief human resources officer, said many employees whom Pfeffer interacted with through worker’s compensation claims often repeated the same refrain. “Bev was a source of kindness and compassion in their time of need,” she says.

Though Pfeffer says she will miss visiting with her many friends from the company, she’s looking forward to traveling and more opportunities to visit her daughter, Hillary, who lives on the East Coast.

All claims will now be handled by Amanda Coggeshall and her leave of absence and liability team. They can be reached at [email protected] or 1-800-366-0200.
