Big O Tires is working to give women a boost of confidence so they won’t have to worry about being taken advantage of the next time they visit an auto repair shop.
The Big O Tires staff recently hosted a ladies car maintenance class at its Columbia, Mo. office at 2304 Business Loop 70 East. Big O Tires offers these classes several times throughout the year at no charge to participants. The goal of the program is to provide attendees with an understanding of basic car maintenance such as the importance of timely motor oil changes and monitoring tires for proper pressure and tread levels.
“We hold these classes for women who want to learn how to take care of their vehicles and reduce their repair bills,” Melanie Coats, Big O Tires manager of marketing and advertising. “Our classes give women lots of easy-to-understand information that will help them feel more confident in the proper care of their vehicle and what to look for in selecting a repair facility.”
All the ladies who attended the class were provided with complimentary appetizers, goodie bags and plenty of helpful information. Besides learning how to inspect their car’s oil and other important fluids, the women also learned how to know when their brake pads need changing, recommendations for jumpstarting a car, the difference between varying colors of smoke coming from a muffler and other basic maintenance tips.
The two-hour program concluded with a walkthrough of the Big O Tires service facility next door where a mechanic provided an up-close look at many of the car parts discussed in the class.
