Charlie Alexander has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the MFA Oil Executive MBA scholarship. The scholarship is granted through the MFA Oil Foundation to one employee per year in conjunction with the University of Missouri’s Trulaske execMBA program.

Alexander, who serves as the company’s Big O Tires operations director, joined MFA Oil in May 2018. He began his career with Big O Tires as a tire technician with another franchisee in Colorado and eventually worked his way up to managing nine locations across the western half of the Centennial State before moving to Missouri.

“I am so grateful to be selected for this scholarship and the unbelievable opportunity it presents,” says Alexander. “I look forward to taking the knowledge I gain from the executive MBA program and applying it to our day-to-day business to improve not only our Big O Tires division, but the company as a whole.”

The execMBA program is designed for working professionals and allows for students to complete most of the program online with limited on-campus classwork. The scholarship covers full tuition costs, a laptop and other miscellaneous costs associated with the program. It will also cover a nine-day international trip where students meet with foreign business leaders.

“I am excited to talk with leaders from other companies to learn their best practices and find things that we can apply to our business,” Alexander says.

Alexander’s classes will begin in August and the 21-month program will conclude with his graduation in May 2021. Previous recipients of the MFA Oil Executive MBA Scholarship Program include Will Reniker, senior warehouse manager, and Jennifer Bach, Break Time director of marketing and merchandising.
