On Dec. 11, Charlie Alexander, vice president of Big O Tires operations, announced the promotion of Derek Albertson and Jesse Burg to the newly created position of regional operations manager. Stores within the Big O Tires division are grouped by territory, and those territories will now fall within a north and south region.
In their new roles, Albertson and Burg will oversee daily store operations for the Big O Tires division in their respective regions. Albertson’s South Region includes the Central, Southern and Southwest territories. Burg’s North Region comprises the Midwest, West Central, Northern and Western territories.
Both men will report to Alexander, who sees a tremendous opportunity for the regional operations managers to continue to grow Big O Tires’ market share while providing more value to employees and customers.
“Derek and Jesse will help guide and develop our territories and stores as we work to grow our sales,” Alexander says. “They will also lead the charge from a technological standpoint as our industry evolves. Vehicles are changing, and it is important that we continue to adapt as the retail tire and automotive industry changes.”
Albertson has been with the company for over 15 years and has held every position at the store level, from tire technician to his former role as territory manager.
Burg joined MFA Oil 15 years ago and has been a part of the Big O Tires division since 2016. His previous roles have included Jiffy Lube district manager, APM senior dealer manager, and his most recent position as Big O Tires senior procurement manager.
“I am excited to work together with Derek and Jesse as we endeavor to grow the Big O Tires division and benefit the company into the future,” Alexander says. “Derek brings a lot of experience and operational knowledge to the table that will be invaluable in further developing our South Region. Over the last several years, Jesse has excelled in his back-office support role, and I’m confident his technical expertise will help our stores in the Northern Region thrive.”
