Dean Inskip Retires Following 31 Years of Cooperative Employment

Today, Nov. 11, 2022, is the last day of work for Dean Inskip, senior compliance administrator II. Inskip, who has overseen network operations and assisted with security for the company, is retiring following more than three decades of combined service to MFA Incorporated and MFA Oil.

Inskip began his cooperative career as a field computer service representative in 1991 at MFA Inc. He held various positions at the grain, feed and seed supplier, including computer service engineer, pc system administrator, internet/network technical support analyst and assistant manager of pc support services.

“The difference between the processing power of the computers I worked on in the 90s versus what we have today is like day and night,” Inskip said. “Things run so much faster now. It’s like going from riding a bicycle to flying in a jet plane.”

In 2004, Inskip joined MFA Oil as manager of network operations, a position he held for nearly ten years. His most recent positions, security compliance officer and senior compliance administrator II, allowed him to transition from “the tech side to more of the security side,” Inskip said.

“I’ve worked on everything from building and physical security to network and credit card security,” Inskip said. “My primary focus in recent years has been upgrading our credit card software, hardware, and procedures to comply with PCI (payment card industry) security standards.”

In 2019, Inskip completed a tour of the more than 170 Petro-Card 24 sites throughout Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa and Kansas to upgrade the physical security of the payment systems. He replaced the generic locks on the payment kiosks at each location with digital ones accessed through an app called Masterlock to secure Petro-Card 24 payment systems.

“Dean has been instrumental in improving our credit card security and PCI compliance,” says Tom May, senior employee engagement and culture director. “His over 31 years of IT work at MFA Inc. and MFA Oil are commendable, and we thank Dean for his many contributions to our company.”

Looking back on his career, Inskip says it’s been 30 years of technology changes, new challenges and friendships he’s made along the way. Though he says he will miss his friends and fellow employees at MFA Oil, he is looking forward to improving his golf game and putting more time into restoring a 1957 International Harvester pickup truck – an Inskip family heirloom.
