While the Sulphur propane plant held its customer appreciation dinner on July 21, a vacationing elderly couple stopped in front of the plant. David and Sherry Christiansen had a flat tire on their fifth-wheel camper, and they informed the plant staff that they would move it as soon as they could. The Sulphur employees told the Christiansens it was no problem, and one of the plant’s drivers volunteered to help.
Gavin “Taylor” Melton walked with the couple to look at the flat and see what he could do. Melton changed the tire on the camper and got the Christiansens back on the road.
A few days later, a thank you note from the couple arrived in the mail. The Christiansens expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Melton’s help.
“We’re still pretty new to RVing, and while we eventually would have got it done – you saved the day,” they wrote to Melton. “It’s people like you that let us know there is hope for the world after all!”
Kenny Steeves, senior vice president of MFA Oil operations, commends Melton for his friendliness to the Christiansens.
“I am proud of the way Taylor helped someone in need regardless of if they were a customer or not,” Steeves says. “His actions epitomize the kindness and neighborly attitude of the MFA Oil Way. Leading by example is one of our core values, and the initiative Taylor demonstrated is a great example of the Golden Rule put into practice.”
