Pin Pads Help Plants Process Credit Card Payments

Processing credit card payments at the company’s plant offices is now easier and more secure thanks to a deployment of pin pad payment terminals. Every office was sent at least one pin pad device in early 2020 for CSRs to use to process customer credit card payments and the pin pads were put into service on May 14.

After a customer inserts or swipes their card, the pin pad device encrypts the information and safely transmits the payment directly to the credit issuer for processing. The card issuer then sends the payment to MFA Oil and the transaction is confirmed and reflected in the CSR Workbench.

“Equipping our plants with these pin pads moves us into compliance with the payment card industry data security standard,” says Jeff Raetz, chief financial officer. “This allows us to not only process payments more securely, but also make things easier for our CSRs when they are dealing with in-person payments. They can simply scan or swipe with the pin pad’s card reader now rather than having to type out all of the customer’s credit card information.”

A pin pad training course was added to MFA Oil University to help CSRs and plant managers learn how to use the new equipment.
