On Jan. 25, 2020, the Retail Automotive division held its annual awards banquet at Chateau on the Lake in Branson, Mo. The event celebrated the successes of Big O Tires and Jiffy Lube from the prior year and honored high performing stores and individuals.
“Big O Tires and Jiffy Lube broke several records last year,” says Ed Harper, vice president of retail automotive. “It’s important to recognize the teams who led in their respective areas such as Google ratings, customer service, facility cleanliness and financial performance while encouraging new teams to follow their lead.”
Harper welcomed employees and guests to the banquet before turning the mic over to Matt Stankey, Jiffy Lube operations manager, who recognized the Jiffy Lube award winners. The Jefferson City store on Dix Road won five of the six Jiffy Lube awards, including 2019 Store of the Year.
“Jiffy Lube had an outstanding year,” Stankey says. “All locations performed above expectations. Jeramiah Watson and his team at Dix Rd. took it to another level. The Dix Road store fell one award short of winning all the awards. Joseph Rivera and his team at the Worley St. store in Columbia kept it from being a complete sweep by winning outstanding expense control.”
Stankey said the adoption of a new tablet-based vehicle inspection application called Cherry Inspect played an integral role in Jiffy Lube’s 2019 success, which included setting a new one-month sales record ($518,170) and breaking $100,000 in monthly profit twice.
“I look forward to seeing how high our Jiffy Lube team can climb in Fiscal 2020,” Stankey says.
Big O Tires Director of Operations Charlie Alexander says 2020 was another great year for Big O Tires, with new records set for sales and overall profit. Successes for the year included the addition of a 20th location in Warrensburg, Mo., and Alexander expects to open two additional stores in 2020.
“We had many stores that operated well and had a great year, but our team in Fayetteville stood out the most and took home the award for Store of the Year,” says Alexander. “I am also proud to recognize Jim Williams as our Territory Manager of the Year. Jim did a fantastic job overseeing the seven stores in his territory, and I am excited to see where our entire division will go in 2020 and beyond.”
