MFA Oil’s home office staff continued its annual support for the Heart of Missouri United Way with a week’s worth of fundraising activities in late September that added up to more than $37,000 in donations.
Employees had several ways they could contribute to the campaign including automatic payroll deductions and fundraising events such as the MFA Oil Olympics, a scavenger hunt, bingo, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader trivia, a pancake breakfast, a pizza lunch, ice cream social, raffle ticket sales, a 50/50 drawing and hot dog, nachos and popcorn sales. Seventy-three employees, up from 64 last year, elected to donate their “Fair Share,” a payroll deduction of one hour’s pay per month for one year.
“Our 2015 United Way campaign went really well and we had great participation from employees,” says Lora Sedgwick, records services supervisor, who serves on the employee committee which was responsible for the week’s events. “We were able to raise nearly $6,500 more than last year’s donations thanks in large part to the additional employees who donated their Fair Share or Fair Share Plus. All in all, everything went really well.”
The Heart of Missouri United Way is a non-profit organization serving the Missouri counties of Boone, Cooper, Howard, Callaway, Randolph, Audrain and Cole. For more than 65 years, Heart of Missouri United Way has mobilized the caring power of community resources to serve people in need in mid-Missouri.
MFA Oil would like to thank all of the employee committee members who helped to organize the week’s fundraising efforts: Jody Bock, Jessica Kueffer, Tom May, Brandon Richardson, Lora Sedgwick, Janice Serpico, Tammy Spyers, Carrie Steere and Gary Tegerdine.
