The bulk of the funds was raised through Helping Hand donation pledges, where employees agreed to donate one hour of pay per month for a year via payroll deduction or a one-time donation. A total of 178 employees turned in pledge cards, totaling $62,406. To help encourage participation, the company provides eight hours of extra PTO to anyone who provides a Helping Hand contribution and holds a $100 drawing for every 50 pledge cards received. With more than 150 pledges, the company drew three winners: MG Behrend, Tami Ensor and Lorie Klippel.

An additional $10,538.20 was raised through food sales and competitions held at the Home Office throughout the week. Employees were assigned to one of nine teams that could earn points based on participation in the week’s activities, which included bingo, a corn hole tournament, a trivia contest, pumpkin bowling, Fibbage, pumpkin decorating contests, and more.

The competitive spirit of the team-based fundraising helped boost participation across the board. The cornhole tournament fielded 20 teams of two, trivia had a total of 17 teams and 67 participants, more than 50 people bowled pumpkins on the company lawn, 44 played Fibbage online and approximately 100 attended an end-of-week pizza party.
